Hitchcocks Everywhere!

Here's 11 of the customers Hitchcock chairs. They will bring the other half when these are finished. Along with new seats, there are several repairs to be done and the ones he has 5 of, need all new banding. Someone tried to replace one but used material twice as thick as it should be. Pics when finished{it'l be awhile!}

Cane Bottom

This chair is a but unusual in that the cane for the seat and the virticals for the sides use the same holes in the seat frame. Also, each hole appears to have a wood peg to help secure it in place along with the tie-offs on the bottom. The holes had plenty of dirt too! I'll post new pics when finished.

Where Are You??

When you go to look for your "faithful companion" while your in the shop working away, this is not what I'd hoped to find. Guard Dog?

Rattan Chairs

These were bought by my customer from a storage unit. No telling how long they were in there but my guess is they stacked stuff on top or the stack fell and the result is the broken areas on the backs. Now finished, they require stain and finish. Then we can stapt on the 2 "head" chairs that go with these.

Rattan Chair

Here's a rattan chair that was in sad shape. As you can see, all of the wrapping had to be replaced and done in the same pattern as it's one of a set of 7 pieces. Just needs stain and finish.

Rattan Bar Stools

Here's one of a set of Rattan Bar Stools done in the "diamond" pattern, stained and ready for a shot!

3PC Garden Set-Starting Point

This is a 3pc set of "Garden Furniture" that was dropped off for restoration. The bottom of the glider is completly rotted and all of the seat. The chairs are not quite as bad needing new feet and one chair needs a new seat.
The set has brass tags ; "Rok-O-Glider"by the Goshin Manufacturing Co, Goshin, Ind.
They have been painted many times. We will finish using the colors we believe were on the set from the Co.

3 PC Set-Chairs-Repaired

The 2 chairs are sanded and ready for painting. The chair on the right had most of the seat slats replaced due to rot and both chairs have new feet.

3PC Set- Repaired-Glider

This is the glider repaired and ready for paint. We made a whole new base for it and all the slats and 2 end pieces on the seat are new. The rest was just sanded to remove the old flaking paint.

3PC Set Finished-Chairs

Here's the 2 chairs.

3 PC Set Finished-Glider

Here's the glider finished and ready for some cool nights .

15 MOUNTAIN ROCKERS & CHAIRS

Here's the shot we posted almost a year ago when the customer dropped off the 15 chairs and rockers. The are "DuB" chairs made in the NC Mountains. Below, you will see the end result now at home in NC in the mountains where they belong.

"DuB" ROCKERS

Here is an overall pic of the rockers and chairs. Most are marked "DuB" and came from the NC Mountains handcrafted many years ago. We used an oil mix finish with Flat Oval Reed and used the "Carolina Close Weave" pattern. These folks live in SC and have a "Family Home" up in the NC mountains, so what better pattern to use!

"DuB" Rockers

Here are the rockers and chairs from a post from almost a year ago! We have restored the rockers and chairs.

15 Pieces from Maryland.

Here is some of the 15 pieces of Ficks Wicker brought to us from Maryland. Damage was mainly in the leg areas but a couple of the arm chairs had broken spokes and weavers. Once repaired, we finished with a "distressed" look like it was.

Fibre Wicker Sofa

This sofa had been stored for many years and dried out. Many of the wire core spokes were broken as well as the usual leg damage.

FINISHED SOFA

Here's the finished sofa with new spokes and braid. We added a light stain to the finish to bring back the color thar was faded.
We received this email from the customer;
"Hi Rob,

I am very pleased with the couch you restored for me. It looks great and I am very happy with it. You did a wonderful job andI am so excited to have it back. Thank you.

Jane"

Quality Control Team

Here's our quality control team during their break. The're tough but fair and the work for treats!

Wicker Table-Desk

A very nice wicker piece that needs some attention. The top veneer is missing and the wood core has come apart. The braid around the top is rotten. It would take much more time to repair then just replace with a new piece. Our plan is to use a piece of Tiger Oak 3/4 ply for the new top since the customer wanted to have it natural rather then painted and make new braid.
