Round Reed Rocker

Here is the rocker as it was dropped off. Most of the spokes are broken across the front. The whalings across the back part are broken or brittle. The decision was made to remove all this and reweave the whole thing.

Yup, sometimes you have no choice but to remove all the reed and start over with fresh. Frequently the material has deteriorated so much that it cracks and breaks as you are trying to make the repairs.

I've been fortunate enough to only repair and splice in on several rockers like this, but most of the time I have to start all over again, too. Will try to find the pictures and post to my blog on Wednesday for the "Wednesday Wicker Wisdom" feature.
